She was visiting Sheffield to talk about her new book (The Revolution will be Digitised) at the city’s Off the Shelf festival of words and was invited to present a one-off lecture to journalism and PR students by journalism course leader David Clarke.

Heather’s work on uncovering the expenses scandal was immortalised in the BBC drama On Expenses (2010) where her character was played by Anna Maxwell Martin.

In addition to her freelance work Heather is a professor at City University’s Department of Journalism and the author of the Freedom of Information bible Your Right To Know (Pluto press) and The Silent State.

Her website Your Right to Know is the first port of call for information on FOIA and journalism.
