To celebrate the launch of the newspaper, significant figures of the community were invited to attend a launch event held at Shirecliffe Community Centre, Sheffield.
In attendance was current MP and former home secretary, David Blunkett, who praised the work of the newspaper.
He said: “The S5 Observer will be a great aspect to the community.
“There is a spirit, there is a light there, and I think that informing, encouraging, and supporting (the community) is important.”
Danielle Hayden, praised the newspaper, and the opportunity provided by Sheffield Hallam.
“It’s an absolute privilege to be a part of something like this. It really brings out the best in a career like journalism.”
