A journalism student from Sheffield Hallam University has recently spent a day with Sky Sports Formula One at their studios in London.
Second-year student Joe Diamond was invited down to Sky HQ to take part in a Sky Sports F1 media event last Thursday, ahead of the start of the F1 season next weekend in Melbourne, Australia.
Joe enjoyed interviews with the likes of former-World Champion Damon Hill, ex-drivers and current Sky F1 pundits Johnny Herbert and Martin Brundle, and Sky F1 presenter, Natalie Pinkham. The event took part in one of Sky’s studios, with the crew filming promotional content for their coverage of the season ahead.
Speaking of the event, Joe said it had been an honour to meet and interview some of the sport’s biggest names:
“I really enjoyed the day from start to finish. I arrived at the studio and everyone was covered in paint as part of the filming. It was definitely weird to see Damon Hill being splattered in paint.
Joe added: “It was quite hard at first to compose myself because I was pretty star-struck, but after a while I settled down and got into some really interesting interviews.
“I now plan to spend the next few days transcribing and typing up my audio clips from the event.”
