Lecturer publishes research on journalism identity

Volume three, issue one

Journalism lecturer Dr Lily Canter has published an article in the academic journal Journalism Education about the role of  the NCTJ in the identity of newspaper journalists.

The article titled ‘From traditional gatekeeper to professional verifier: how local newspaper journalists are adapting to change’ explores how journalists at the Leicester Mercury and Bournemouth Daily Echo distinguish themselves from citizen journalists.

One of the key factors the research found was that journalists thought media law training was a major factor in their professional identity.
