The Sheffield Hallam University BA Journalism degree has climbed 29 places in the Guardian university rankings, placing the course at 14th in the country.
The university league table rates student satisfaction, staff-student ratio, spend per students and other factors to calculate an overall score.
The SHU journalism degree is ranked under the journalism, publishing and PR section and this year its strong placing puts it above institutions such as De Montfort, Nottingham Trent and Leed Trinity.
The improved rating follows a highly successful year for the BA Journalism degree which received 93% student satisfaction and PPA accreditation in 2013/14.
Dr Lily Canter, Subject Group Leader for Journalism at SHU, said: “It has been a fantastic year for the course and I am extremely proud of all of the staff and of course our brilliant and talented students who have worked so hard. The degree is growing from strength to strength and next year it will improve even more with our new TV and radio studio, new portfolio of first year modules and the introduction of three new Masters streams.”
