The dissertation of SHU graduate Daniel Brookes has been published in a special edition of prestigious journal Digital Journalism.
Daniel researched the tweeting habits of journalists at The Star in Sheffield and with his supervisor Dr Lily Canter turned the dissertation into an academic research paper.
The paper was presented at the 2015 Future of Journalism Conference and beat hundreds of other articles to win a place in the Routledge journal.
Daniel, who now works as a marketing co-ordinator, said he was “very happy” with his achievement.
Dr Canter added: “Daniel collected some excellent data and worked really hard to get to grips with some tricky research methods. With a bit of help, he was able to turn a strong dissertation into a robust journal article. This is a great example of how students can publish not only great pieces of journalism but also academic articles of international significance.”
