Lectures, seminars and workshops take place at the City Campus, in and around the newly built Cantor Building. The rooms are fully equipped with the latest technology including plasma screens,  audio visual units and computer workstations. The modern architecture of the university buildings make SHU an attractive, spacious and light place to study.

The journalism department has a range of facilities, including:

  • TV studio and adjacent gallery
  • Radio studio with live feeds from Independent Radio News
  • Two print newsrooms with 40 work stations

Journalism students also have access to portable equipment, such as:

  • Marantz audio recorders
  • Zoom H2 mics
  • Flashmics
  • Digital HD cameras
  • Flipcams

The SHU libraries and learning centres give students further access to academic journals, reference texts and online resources including:

  • The Times Digital Archive

  • 17th and 18th Century Burney Collection Newspapers
  • NewsFilm Online
  • Independent Local Radio Archive
  • BRAD
